Disaster Alert
Washington – A wildfire on an Indian reservation in Yakima County damaged dozens of homes, threatened hundreds of others, closed roads, caused power outages and prompted the evacuation of scores of residents within the affected area on Saturday. Minor injuries reported.
Disaster Action Team members from the Yakima Valley Chapter opened a shelter, provided Mass Care, and offered assistance, as needed to affected-area residents.

Disaster Alert
Washington – Record setting rainfall caused flooding and mudslides that damaged homes and prompted the evacuation of hundreds of homes throughout the western portion of the state on Sunday.
The Snohomish County Chapter deployed Disaster Action Teams, opened three shelters, placed another two on standby and staffed county Emergency Operations Centers.
The ARC Serving King & Kitsap Counties Chapter deployed Disaster Action Team and provided assistance, as needed, to affected-area residents.

Disaster Alert
Washington — The Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross responded a fire in Blaine on Aug 24 that destroyed a family home. Red Cross volunteers provided support and assistance to the family.

Disaster Alert
Washington – Fast moving wildfires in several portions of the state destroyed homes, burned hundreds of acres and caused the evacuation of residents in Ferry, Stevens and Klickitat Counties on Thursday.
The Inland Northwest Chapter deployed Disaster Action Team (DAT), dispatched two Emergency Response Vehicles, opened two shelters and provided Mass Care to the evacuees. The Southwest Washington Chapter deployed DAT, opened a shelter for residents in the affected area and staffed the County EOC.

Disaster Alert
Florida: A shooting that occurred on Thanksgiving night, in a Palm Beach County home, caused 4 fatalities, 1 injury and prompted the evacuation of a dozen relatives. 17 relatives were in the home at the time of the incident. The shooter fled the scene. The local chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team (DAT), provided canteening for emergency responders, offered Mental Health services and worked with the local authorities to provide a safe location for the family.
Washington: A gunman burst into a Washington coffeehouse Sunday morning and opened fire on four officers. The three male officers and one female officer did not survive their injuries. The local chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team (DAT), provided canteening and offered Mental Health services.

Disaster Alert
Washington – A rock slide in Yakima County damaged homes, closed roads and cut off power to local area residents. The Inland Northwest chapter opened a shelter and provided food and water for evacuees. The Mount Rainier chapter assisted disaster victims in the town of Nile. The residents were isolated due to the road closure.

Disaster Alert
Washington – Wildfires near the town of Nespelem, on the Colville Indian Reservation, prompted the evacuation of a local convalescent center, residents of the White Buffalo area, and the closure of Highway 155. Firefighters contained the fire within 12 hours and residents were allowed to return to their homes. The Inland Northwest chapter opened a shelter and delivered comfort kits to the affected residents.

Washington – A fast moving wildfire in Okanogan County burned hundreds of acres, disabled power lines and threatened dozens of homes. Residents in the affected area were ordered to evacuate. The chapters deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened a shelter and distributed comfort kits to affected residents.

Disaster Alert
Washington, DC — Two 6 car WMATA Metro trains collided just after 5 p.m. EDT on June 22 resulting in a mass casualty situation. The National Capital Area chapter sent blankets, 5 Emergency Response Vehicles and several vans to provide meals, snacks and hydration to the emergency workers. The chapter staffed DC Homeland Security Family Reunification center with FEMA and mental health workers were deployed.
