South Dakota– A severe storm with possible tornado activity destroyed homes, damaged others and left residents in the Pine Ridge Reservation without power late Saturday night.
The Black Hills Area Chapter communicated with local officials deployed team members and provided individual assistance to disaster victims.
Additionally, the Iron Shell Fire burned hundreds of acres, closed roads, threatened homes and prompted the evacuation of residents within the affected area of Todd County on Saturday.
The Black Hills Area Chapter deployed Disaster Action Team members, dispatched a disaster trailer, opened a shelter and provided Mass Care for scores of evacuees.

South Dakota– A wildfire destroyed or damaged homes, threatened others and prompted the evacuation of scores of residents in Custer County on Thursday.
The Black Hills Area chapter talked to Emergency Management, deployed team members, dispatched a disaster trailer, opened a shelter and provided assistance to disaster victims as needed.

South Dakota – A number of dwellings were affected on the Pine Ridge Reservation yesterday after severe thunderstorms.
The Black Hills Area Chapter placed some people in hotels and will open a shelter should more people need sheltering. The chapter has also deployed a Disaster Action Team.

South Dakota – Heavy rain flooded the Rosebud Reservation yesterday resulting in sewage backup in some houses and causing the evacuation of over 50 homes by local emergency management.
The Black Hills Area Chapter is in the position to open a shelter if necessary and at the request of the tribe provided food for about 250 people last night. The chapter has pre-positioned a pallet of clean up-kits in Rosebud and will provide additional 60 kits today. Chapter has completed its first damage assessment on the reservation and has provided the South Dakota Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster with their report.

South Dakota – Severe storms caused wind damage to homes and affected residents on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in Shannon County, SD on Monday.
The Black Hills Area Chapter provided immediate disaster assistance to two families. Tribal Law Enforcement, in partnership with the chapter, is completing Disaster Assessment. Additional services will be provided as requested.

South Dakota – Flooding is expected in Pine Ridge (Indian Reservation) and may affect about 500 people in the small town of Calico.
The Black Hills Area chapter opened a shelter last night, will be delivering supplies today, and do damage assessment.

South Dakota – A winter storm affected many areas throughout the state causing power and water outages resulting in the displacement of many residents. The Black Hills Area Chapter opened a shelter for the displaced residents and will be handling all aspects of the shelter including feeding.

Arizona – A winter storm and flooding affected several counties throughout the state and caused power outages to thousands of local residents on Saturday. Hundreds of residents evacuated from their homes. The Governor issued a State of Emergency for 10 counties. The Grand Canyon Chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened 4 shelters and provided Mass Care (MC) for shelter residents.
South Dakota – A winter storm that affected many areas throughout the state caused power outages to thousands of residents on Friday and Saturday. The Black Hills Area Chapter deployed a DAT, opened a shelter, provided MC and bulk distribution for the affected-area residents. All other chapters stand ready to provide assistance as needed to affected-area residents.

South Dakota – A small airplane crashed into a field in Lincoln County. Sioux Empire Chapter’s Mental Health team was available to offer counseling to family members. The Disaster Operation Center informed the National Transportation and Safety Board of the accident.

South Dakota – A tornado touched down in Menno Tuesday causing power outages. Two Emergency Response Vehicles were dispatched along with a Mental Health volunteer to the affected area. The Dakota Plains Chapter passed out bottled water, sunscreen and bug spray to those cleaning up the debris.
