California – A severe storm caused lightning strikes that ignited several fires, downed power lines and left residents in Riverside County without power on Wednesday.
The Riverside County Chapter deployed Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened a shelter and provided Mass Care to residents within the affected area.

Disaster Alert
South Carolina – A substation exploded in Oconee County and left thousands of local residents without power on Monday. Oconee County Chapter and Upstate South Carolina Chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team, opened a shelter and provided canteening to affected-area residents and emergency responders.

Disaster Alert
New York – Severe weather brought straight-line winds and a tornado that damaged homes, downed power lines and left residents of Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties without power late Saturday.
The ARC of Southwestern New York Chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team, opened a shelter and provided canteen services to emergency responders.

Disaster Alert
Winter Storm: Thousands of residents throughout several states and the District of Columbia continue to be affected by power outages as a result of the winter storm that occurred over the weekend. In addition, a major Nor’easter storm is affecting much of the area. Several Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are in effect.
North Carolina; West Virginia; Virginia; Maryland; Washington DC; Pennsylvania; Delaware; New Jersey
Chapters within the affected areas kept dozens of shelters open and provided Mass Care for local residents, as well as stranded travelers, and continued to collaborate with government agencies and community organizations to provide support as needed.

Disaster Alert
Kentucky /Indiana – A severe storm front brought low level flooding and flash flooding to Clark and Jefferson Counties. Many apartment buildings had inches of water in the first floor throughout the day affecting many families. The floods also caused sewer backups, street flooding and power outages. The State Emergency Operating Center was activated.
Chapters opened two shelters and fed residents. They are in contact with the local county Emergency Management Centers and are prepared to do Disaster Assessment when conditions permit.

Disaster Alert
West Virginia – Significant rainfall caused flooding in Calhoun, Roane, and Gilmore counties on Monday (May 4) that closed schools, shut down roads, flooded basements, and left over 9,000 residents without power.
The Red Cross opened a shelter, provided mass care for residents in the affected area, and expects to complete disaster assessment today.
