Kansas – A possible tornado downed trees and power lines in Winfield and Cowley counties yesterday.
The Midway-Kansas Chapter will be doing damage assessment and provide further updates to the Disaster Operations Center.

Disaster Alert: Grain Elevator Collapse in Kansas

Kansas – A grain elevator collapsed in Russell County on Thursday afternoon. Multiple fatalities reported.
The North Central Kansas Chapter responded with eight Red Cross representatives distributing 220 meals or snacks and handing out more than 100 drinks.

Disaster Alert: Flood in Kansas

Kansas – Statewide flooding destroyed multiple homes, damaged others and prompted the evacuation of residents in the affected areas on Thursday.
Chapters in the Kansas City and Topeka Regions had a call with possible affected Chapters. Disaster Action Teams have been deployed to open shelters for evacuees and have placed additional shelter locations on standby.

Kansas – A gas explosion in the business district of Wichita yesterday caused a city block evacuation. The Miday Kansas Chapter provided food and water to approximately 150 emergency responders.

Disaster Alert – Winter Storm

Kansas – A winter storm moved through the state and brought snow, ice, and high winds that knocked out power and stranded travelers. The Mid-Way Kanasas Chapter and Cannonball Trail Chapter opened a warming center and fed hundreds of people staying in nearby hotels as well as emergency workers.
