Disaster Alert: Hazardous Materials in South Carolina

South Carolina – A landfill with unknown materials burned for several hours and prompted evacuations for dozens of homes within the affected area. The Central South Carolina chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened a shelter, and dispatched an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) to provide canteen services for emergency responders and provided Mass Care (MC) for the shelter residents.


Disaster Alert: Train Incident in South Carolina

Disaster Alert

South Carolina –  A 10-car train, that carried hazardous materials, overturned in Lexington County and prompted the evacuation of local residents on Sunday, November 20. The evacuation was issued as a precaution in case of a spill.

Central South Carolina chapter deployed Disaster Action Team (DAT) and temporarily opened a shelter for the evacuees while cars were being placed back on tracks.


Disaster Alert: Hazardous Material in New Jersey

New Jersey – An overturned tractor trailer carrying hazardous materials in Morris Township caused an evacuation of a nearby hotel and a small apartment complex yesterday. The Northern New Jersey chapter opened a reception center for evacuees and provided food and water to emergency responders.


Disaster Alert: Hazardous Materials in Massachusetts

Disaster Alert

Massachusetts – Exposure to an unidentified gas hospitalized dozens of people at a garbage transfer station in New Bedford on Monday morning and prompted the evacuation of people in the affected area. The Chapter deployed Disaster Action Team (DAT) and provided canteen services to the evacuees.

Disaster Alert: Building Evacuation in Pennslyvannia

Disaster Alert

Pennslyvannia – 18 residents were evacuated from a building due to a hazardous material situation in Harrisburg yesterday. The Susquehanna Valley Chapter opened a shelter which had 10 residents overnight. The Salvation Army was there to assist with feeding and to provide clothing for the residents.
