California - The American Red Cross responds as two wildfires rage in California and force thousands to evacuate their homes.
Red Cross chapters in Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz counties have opened shelters to offer safe haven for Californians ordered to evacuate. Partner shelters have also been established to house pets that left threatened areas with owners. Additionally, an Emergency Response Vehicle has been deployed to provide snacks and beverages to firefighters and evacuees on site.
Pennslyvannia – 18 residents were evacuated from a building due to a hazardous material situation in Harrisburg yesterday. The Susquehanna Valley Chapter opened a shelter which had 10 residents overnight. The Salvation Army was there to assist with feeding and to provide clothing for the residents.
