Disaster Alert

Tennessee – Moderate to heavy rainfall in Chattanooga resulted in the evacuation of residents due to flooding. Some of the homes had between three to six feet of water inside rendering them unsafe. The Greater Chattanooga Area chapter opened two shelters with an overnight population with 60 residents. The chapter provided food, water and emotional support for the residents.

Texas – Heavy rainfall flooded roads and caused Dallas County residents to evacuate Sunday morning. The Dallas Area chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened a shelter and placed four others on standby for the evacuees.

Georgia – Constant rain in Glynn county caused flooding,  forcing a small evacuation yesterday. The Red Cross opened a shelter and provided food and water for affected residents.

Disaster Alert: Wildfires in California

Disaster Alert

California – Several wildfires continue to burn over 100,000 acres, threatening thousands of homes and prompting mandatory evacuations throughout the Southern California region.  Red Cross chapters have deployed Disaster Action Teams (DAT), opened eight evacuation shelters, and staffed county Emergency Operation Centers (EOC). Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV) continue to provide food and water to emergency workers and evacuees.

Disaster Alert: California Wildfire

Disaster Alert

California
– A woodland fire in Santa Cruz county yesterday burned up to 2000 acres and up to 300 homes were requested to evacuate. The Santa Cruz County Chapter and Monterey-San Benito Counties Chapter opened two evacuation centers. Chapter provided water, snacks and comfort kits. Chapter Disaster Operations Center was set up and is deploying members as needed. A mobile communications vehicle sent to first evacuation site. Closely working with California Fire Command Post and Emergency Operations Center Director.


Disaster Alert: Hazardous Material in New Jersey

Disaster Alert

New Jersey – An overturned tractor trailer carrying hazardous materials in Morris Township caused an evacuation of a nearby hotel and a small apartment complex yesterday. The Northern New Jersey chapter opened a reception center for evacuees and provided food and water to emergency responders.


Disaster Alert: Wildfire in California

Disaster Alert

California – A 40 acre wildfire in the Eagle Rock/Glendale area resulted in the voluntary evacuation of some residents yesterday.

The Long Beach Regional Chapter had a shelter on stand by to support Glendale chapter if necessary. The Glendale chapter provided canteen services to the affected and staffed the city Emergency Operations Center.

Disaster Alert

Texas – A wildfire in Bexar and Comal counties yesterday resulted in an unknown number of homes threatened. The fire was later contained and residents were allowed to return to their homes.

The San Antonio Area Chapter staffed an evacuation center and provided canteen services to local fire
departments.


Disaster Alert: California Wildfire

Disaster Alert

California – A wildfire fueled by winds threatened homes and prompted the evacuation of dozens of Monterey County residents.

The Monterey Chapter sent DAT, opened an evacuation center, dispatched an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV), and provided canteen services. Residents were allowed to return to their homes several hours later.


Disaster Alert: Flooding in Pennsylvania

Disaster Alert

Pennsylvania – Severe flooding closed bridges, blocked roadways and caused the evacuation of several Montgomery County residents Sunday afternoon. The Chapter deployed DAT, opened a shelter and provided Mass Care (MC) to residents in the affected area.
