Colorado – A wildfire in Boulder County burned thousands of acres, damaged or destroyed multiple structures and caused thousands of residents within the affected area to evacuate on Monday.
The Mile High chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team, opened a shelter, provided Mass Care for shelter residents and issued canteen services to hundreds of affectedarea residents and emergency responders.
Washington – Fast moving wildfires in several portions of the state destroyed homes, burned hundreds of acres and caused the evacuation of residents in Ferry, Stevens and Klickitat Counties on Thursday.
The Inland Northwest Chapter deployed Disaster Action Team (DAT), dispatched two Emergency Response Vehicles, opened two shelters and provided Mass Care to the evacuees. The Southwest Washington Chapter deployed DAT, opened a shelter for residents in the affected area and staffed the County EOC.
The Crown Wildfire burns in the Acton and Agua Dulce area of Los Angeles County. Fire forced over 4,000 people in the Palmdale area to relocate. The American Red Cross Los Angeles Region with recommendations from L.A. County and City Officials opened 2 shelters and provided overnight services to 175 residents.
California — Heavy rains caused evacuations in areas of recent wildfires such as the Station, Morris, Sayre and Murrick fires. The main areas of concern are Altadena, La Canada, La Crescenta, Glendale, Sunland-Tujunga (City of Los Angeles) and Acton.
Glendale-Crescenta Valley and Antelope Valley Chapters have each opened an evacuation shelter. The chapters continue to coordinate with the local government of the various counties. Other shelter locations have been identified and could be opened if needed. Chapters also have liaisons in place to support all of the command posts and Emergency Operations Centers that have opened.
Tennessee – Heavy rainfall on Tuesday caused flooding and mudslides in Hamilton County that prompted the evacuation of residents within the affected area.
South Carolina – A 10-car train, that carried hazardous materials, overturned in Lexington County and prompted the evacuation of local residents on Sunday, November 20. The evacuation was issued as a precaution in case of a spill.
Central South Carolina chapter deployed Disaster Action Team (DAT) and temporarily opened a shelter for the evacuees while cars were being placed back on tracks.
San Juan, Puerto Rico -Several large gas tanks exploded causing a fire at a gasoline storage facility in San Juan this morning prompting an evacuation of residents in the affected area. The local chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), provided bulk distribution of comfort kits (non-American Red Cross shelter), and staffed the Emergency Operation Center (EOC).
