Texas – A flood in Maverick county affected local area residents last Thursday afternoon. The San Antonio chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT) and dispatched two Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV). The ERVs provided food and water to the affected residents.

Disaster Alert

Utah – A wildfire in Washington County burned several homes and prompted the evacuation of hundreds of county residents on Saturday. The chapters deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened a shelter, dispatched an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and provided Mass Care (MC) to the evacuees.

Disaster Alert: Wildfires in California

Disaster Alert

California – A fast paced wildfire burnt about 2000 acres in the San Antonio Lake and Lockwood areas in Monterey County yesterday prompting the mandatory evacuation of 20 homes. The San Benito Counties chapter opened an evacuation site and placed an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV)on standby.

Washington – Over 500 people evacuated the Lake Chelan and Union Valley area yesterday due to a 600 acre forest fire. The Inland Northwest chapter opened a shelter and placed emergency response vehicles (ERV) on standby. The Apple Valley chapter also are on standby.


Disaster Alert: Tornado in Florida

Disaster Alert

Florida – A tornado that touched down in Volusia County destroyed several homes, affected over a hundred others and left hundreds of county residents without power on Friday. The chapters deployed Disaster Action Team (DAT), staffed the county emergency operation center and  placed a shelter on standby. Two dispatched Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV) provided food, water and clean-up kits to the residents of the affected areas.

Florida – Torrential rainfall caused flooding which affected hundreds of homes in Osceola County on Sunday. The Central Florida chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened a shelter, dispatched two Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV) and provided clean-up kits to the residents in the affected areas.


Disaster Alert: Tornado in North Dakota

Disaster Alert

North Dakota – A tornado touched down in Stark County Wednesday destroying more than a dozen homes and caused the evacuation of residents within the affected areas. The responding chapters opened a shelter, deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), dispatched Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV) and worked with local partners to provide food and water to the disaster victims and emergency responders.

Disaster Alert: Explosion in Illinois

Disaster Alert

Illinois - A cargo train carrying chemicals derailed near Rockford on Friday night causing an explosion, a massive fire and the evacuation of 600 homes in the surrounding area. The Rock River Chapter sent an Emergency Response Vehicle to the area and provided snacks and meals to the affected residents.


Disaster Alert: Severe Weather in South Carolina

June 18, 2009

Disaster Alert

South Carolina – Severe thunderstorms affected Greenville, Laurens and Chester counties Wednesday causing power outages and structural damages in the area. An Emergency Response Vehicle was sent to the affected areas along with a Disaster Assessment Team. The chapters are providing mass care and have placed volunteers on standby. A shelter has been placed on stand-by because of more storms which are expected tonight.


Disaster Alert: Tornado in South Dakota

June 18, 2009

Disaster Alert

South Dakota – A tornado touched down in Menno Tuesday causing power outages. Two Emergency Response Vehicles were dispatched along with a Mental Health volunteer to the affected area. The Dakota Plains Chapter passed out bottled water, sunscreen and bug spray to those cleaning up the debris.
