North Carolina – An Amtrak train traveling from Raleigh to Charlotte crashed in Alamance County on Thursday. Multiple injuries were reported.
The ARC of the Quad Cities Area Chapter The Piedmont Carolina Chapter deployed Red Cross workers to provide canteen services to scores of emergency responders.

Disaster Alert
Florida: A shooting that occurred on Thanksgiving night, in a Palm Beach County home, caused 4 fatalities, 1 injury and prompted the evacuation of a dozen relatives. 17 relatives were in the home at the time of the incident. The shooter fled the scene. The local chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team (DAT), provided canteening for emergency responders, offered Mental Health services and worked with the local authorities to provide a safe location for the family.
Washington: A gunman burst into a Washington coffeehouse Sunday morning and opened fire on four officers. The three male officers and one female officer did not survive their injuries. The local chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team (DAT), provided canteening and offered Mental Health services.

Disaster Alert
New Jersey – An overturned tractor trailer carrying hazardous materials in Morris Township caused an evacuation of a nearby hotel and a small apartment complex yesterday. The Northern New Jersey chapter opened a reception center for evacuees and provided food and water to emergency responders.

Disaster Alert
Arizona – A large brush fire in Black Canyon City yesterday resulted in a partial highway closing. The Grand Canyon chapter opened a cooling center for responders and firefighters and provided water to the emergency workers and the affected travelers on the highway.

Kansas – A gas explosion in the business district of Wichita yesterday caused a city block evacuation. The Miday Kansas Chapter provided food and water to approximately 150 emergency responders.

Disaster Alert
Louisiana – A chemical leak from a tank at the Dow Chemical Plant in Hahnville caused a local voluntary evacuation order. The Southeast Louisiana chapter opened a shelter and provided snacks and beverages to emergency responders. The chapter shelter support trailer was placed at the shelter and staff were on call through the night.

A four-alarm fire at a fertilizer company caused toxic fumes that prompted the evacuation of workers and residents in the Tampa Bay surrounding area. The Tampa Bay Area Chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team (DAT) and provided food and water to emergency responders.

Disaster Alert
New York - Continental Airlines flight 3407, traveling from Newark to Buffalo, crashed into a residential area in Erie County last night destroying 1 home. Mainstream media is reporting deaths and injuries.
- The Red Cross has opened reception centers in New York and New Jersey for families to congregate. Mental Health workers have been dispatched to those reception centers to assist family members.
- The Red Cross is offering assistance to the emergency responders on the scene and have opened one shelter for families in neighboring households.
