American Red Cross Continues Relief Efforts
TUESDAY March 23, 2010, Mass – Since March 13th, Massachusetts has been affected by severe flooding. For the past week and a half, the state’s Red Cross chapters have been rallying volunteers from across the country to help respond to this disaster. Last week, the Red Cross opened shelters, provided supplies, and offered mental and social services to aid the recovery.
Starting last night, we have seen more rain which has once again raised water tables and flooded neighborhoods. Disaster assessment teams have been sent out to gauge what the effect may be. Volunteers have been cleaning cots and loading trucks with shelter supplies in anticipation of opening a shelter if the rains continue.
