Texas – Heavy rainfall caused flooding in the eastern portion of the state that prompted the evacuation of residents in the affected area. The Orange County Chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened a shelter, and staffed the county Emergency Operation Center (EOC).


Disaster Alert: Blizzard in Colorado

Disaster Alert

Colorado – A winter storm brought heavy snowfall in Morgan County closing major roadways and downing power lines on Thursday night.  The Centennial Chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened a shelter, and provided food and water for stranded travelers and affected residents.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Disaster Alert: Transportation Incident in Michigan

Disaster Alert

Michigan – A small plane experienced mechanical problems while trying to depart from the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport yesterday. The American Red Cross of Greater Kalamazoo Area sent a Disaster Action Team (DAT) and provided food and water to the first responders. Disaster Mental Health was on standby.


Disaster Alert: Wildfire in California

Disaster Alert

California – A wildfire in Santa Cruz County burned hundreds of acres, threatened homes and prompted the evacuation of residents in the surrounding area on Sunday. The Santa Cruz Chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), opened an evacuation center, provided food and water to affected-area residents and placed a shelter and an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) on stand-by.


Disaster Alert: Severe Weather in Louisiana

Disaster Alert

Louisiana – A line of severe weather swept through Jefferson Davis Parrish causing a tornado that destroyed two homes and damaged over a dozen others late Thursday night. The Louisiana Capital Chapter  deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT), provided food, water and clean-up kits to affected residents.

Disaster Alert: Wildfire in California

Disaster Alert

California – The Sheep Fire in San Bernardino county scorched thousands of acres and prompted the mandatory evacuation of several thousand county residents on Sunday. The Governor declared a state of emergency for the affected area. The chapters deployed Disaster Action Teams (DAT), opened three shelters for the evacuees and also provided food and water.

Disaster Alert: Floods in Alabama

Disaster Alert

Alabama– Flooding in Hale, Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Shelby and Jefferson Counties caused the evacuation of dozens of residents on Monday. Red Cross chapters have deployed Disaster Action Teams (DAT), opened a shelter, provided food and water to affected residents, supplied clean up kits and offered individual assistance to disaster victims.

Disaster Alert: Flooding in Georgia

Georgia – Torrential downpours in the Northern and Central part of the state affected homes, closed roadways and prompted the evacuations of hundreds of residents.  The Governor declared a state of emergency for 17 counties. Red Cross chapters have deployed Disaster Action Teams (DAT) and opened six shelters for evacuees.

Disaster Alert: Flooding in North Carolina

North Carolina – Flooding in Transylvania county prompted the evacuation of local area residents on Monday night.  The Asheville – Mountain Area chapter deployed a Disaster Action Team (DAT) and opened a shelter for the evacuees.
