Disaster Alert: High Wind/Freeze in Connecticut and Pennsylvania

Disaster Alert

Connecticut – Strong winds caused temperatures to plunge to about 10 -15 degrees resulting in power outages to more than 100, 000 customers and downed power lines. Power companies are working to restore power to every household. The Connecticut chapter opened a shelter yesterday.

Pennsylvania – Ridgebury had very strong winds and extremely low temperatures yesterday, it is not yet known whether there were power outages, downed power lines or damages.

The Bradford-Sullivan Counties chapter took over a shelter at the request of Ridgebury Volunteers Fire department. The shelter had 32 people earlier but was closed around 2 am after everyone left. The Susquehanna County chapter assisted with volunteers and the Lackawanna County chapter placed volunteers on standby.
