Disaster Alert: Hazardous Material in Louisiana

Louisiana – A large chemical fire resulted in evacuations in Denham Springs yesterday. There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
At the request of the Office of Emergency Preparedness, the Louisiana Capital Area Chapter opened a shelter and provided mass care. There were 39 overnight residents.

Disaster Alert: Chemical Spill in Florida
September 9, 2009Disaster Alert
Florida – A chemical Spill on I-75 in Jasper resulted in the evacuation of a residential area. The spill involved eight different chemicals which caused difficulty in breathing. The Hamilton County Emergency Operation Center (EOC) was staffed for the event. The North Central Florida chapter has placed a shelter on stand-by and staffed the EOC with a Red Cross worker.
