Louisiana – A chemical leak from a tank at the Dow Chemical Plant in Hahnville caused a local voluntary evacuation order. The Southeast Louisiana chapter opened a shelter and provided snacks and beverages to emergency responders. The chapter shelter support trailer was placed at the shelter and staff were on call through the night.


Disaster Alert: Floods in Florida

Disaster Alert

Florida – Continuous rainfall caused flash flooding throughout the central part of the state that destroyed several homes and affected over 400 homes. The Red Cross has opened two shelters, deployed a Disaster Action Team, and is providing mass care, food and beverages to affected area residents.

Disaster Alert: Severe Weather in North Carolina

Disaster Alert

North Carolina – Tornadoes touched down in Nash and Wilson counties yesterday affecting 10 residences and displacing five affected families. Floods during the afternoon affected a 15 unit apartment complex. Responding chapters served 400 beverages, 144 snacks and 150 meals and opened a shelter.
