Little Rock, AK – June 12, 2010 – American Red Cross Disaster Teams from Arkadelphia, Fayetteville, Hot Springs, Little Rock and Pine Bluff Arkansas including Disaster Teams, nurses and mental health workers continue emotional support and care for families as they wait to learn of the fate of loved ones still missing from Friday’s early morning flash flood at the Albert Pike Campground in the Ouachita National Forrest in Montgomery County, southwestern Arkansas.
Disaster Teams in mobiles units are keeping first responders and rescue crews hydrated in the search area as rescue efforts continue for more than 40 missing campers. “The National Weather Service is expecting heat indexes as high as 105 today,” stated American Red Cross in Arkansas spokesperson Brigette Williams. “With the intensity of the sunshine coupled with the high humidity levels, and for the rescuers a physically and emotionally difficult search operation, our Teams are making certain everyone remains hydrated for their safety.”

May 24, 2010Kenneth worked multiple shifts in community shelters near Memphis. Kenneths experience as Chaplain for the Memphis Fire Department, years as a Red Cross disaster responder and caring heart perfectly qualified him to provide emotional and spiritual care to people staying in Red Cross shelters in the Mid-South area. Kenneth respects all faith traditions as well as the absence of a tradition in his work for the Red Cross. He knows loss is a universal.
