August 21, 2009New England – Hurricane Bill
Hurricane Bill remains a Category Two Hurricane and is moving toward the northwest United States. Some states could experience high winds, high surf and rain. States who could potentially be impacted are Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The New England Red Cross chapters and National Headquarters have been moving resources and staff in preparation for effects from the storm and are ready to open and support shelters throughout New England as needed.
Hurricane Bill: Ocean Safety
August 19, 2009Hurricane Bill has strengthened to a Category Four Hurricane and is moving towards the west-northwest at 16 mph.
American Red Cross advises people on the eastern seaboard to stay aware and only swim where it is safe. It’s likely that Hurricane Bill will create dangerous winds and waves, whether or not he makes landfall.
