The Tulsa Area Chapter of the American Red Cross responded today to a large fire at the Wind Sail Apartments in Tulsa. Eight Red Cross volunteers were dispatched to assist residents and emergency workers.24 units were affected and approximately 100 people were displaced. Red Cross volunteers assisted 46 people with food, clothing and infant supplies.The Red Cross also provided meals, energy sustaining snacks and hydrating beverages for emergency responders at the scene. The Red Cross opened a shelter for displaced residents at Asbury United Methodist Church, located about a mile from the apartments. Red Cross will continue to work with those affected by the fire to assure their immediate needs are met and to connect them with partner agencies who can assist with longer-term needs.
