More than 10 volunteers have been sent to Reading, Kan. after a late-evening tornado damaged the town. 10 volunteers from the Red Cross in Topeka have been sent. A group of volunteers from Salina is on their way to assist with damage assessment and to distribute meals, snacks and clean-up kits, which contain items like mops, buckets and soap. One senior-level volunteer from Wichita is in Reading to assist with planning the Red Cross response.
A Red Cross shelter has been opened at the Senior Citizens Center, 603 12th St, in Emporia,Kansas.
