Florida – An Arctic cold front brought below-freezing temperatures across the State of Florida. Combined low temperatures and wind chills are low enough to meet shelter-opening criteria in North, Central and South Florida.
Disaster Action Team Members from the North Treasure Coast Chapter supported two independent shelters for affected-area residents.
Disaster Action Team Members from the Martin County Chapter activated a cold weather shelter plan and opened 1 shelter for local residents.
Disaster Action Team Members from the Greater Palm Beach Chapter collaborated with local emergency management in opening 2 shelters for local residents.
Disaster Action Team Members from the Charlotte County Chapter collaborated with a partner organization in opening a shelter for residents in the affected area, which closed several hours later.
Disaster Action Team Members from the Polk County Chapter opened a shelter for local residents affected by cold.
