Red Cross Flood Shelter Locations Updates

WILMINGTON NC, September 30, 2010 – As damage from heavy rain remains a threat to areas of the Cape Fear region, the American Red Cross will continue to shelter residents displaced from their homes due to flooding. Three school shelters were opened yesterday evening and are now closed: North Brunswick High School and West Brunswick High School shelters closed at 11am on 9/30 and Eaton Elementary School in New Hanover County closed at 8am on 9/30.

The Red Cross will be opening the following shelters:

Brunswick County
First Baptist Church – 517 Village Rd., Leland NC 28451 – Opens at 2:00PM on 9/30

New Hanover County
First Baptist Activity Center – 1939 Independence Blvd., Wilmington NC 28403 – Opens at 2:00PM on 9/30

Pender County
Burgaw Middle School – 500 S Wright St., Burgaw NC 28425 – Opens at 12:00PM on 9/30

Personal items to bring with you to the shelter should include any medicines needed by members of the family, feeding formulas and diapers for infants, a pillow and blanket for each member of the family, a change of clothing, and books and simple toys for your children.
Public health requirements do not permit us to accept pets in these shelters. Please contact your local animal control department for more information about shelter options for your pet.
