Disaster Alert

Puerto Rico – A tropical wave brought heavy rain to Culebra and Vieques Islands, the towns of Fajardo, Ceiba, and San Lorenzo. Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands placing them under a flash flood watch yesterday. The storm is expected to bring additional rain over the next few days. Most rivers and streams have flooded their banks and many major roads impassable.

The Puerto Rico chapter has begun a preliminary assessment in the affected areas and is in the process of assisting the affected families. Chapter advises the sun is shining at the present time with some rain later today. The sun will help dry things out and they do not expect anything major to happen. They will be providing updates to the Disaster Operation Center (DOC). ARC of the Virgin Islands chapter did disaster assessment (DA) and opened one case.
